He began training in Karate as a teenager under Mr. Peter Delamere in Auckland. After his instructor passed away he continued following in his footsteps, training determinedly in Kyokushin and then Kempo, finally forming his own organisation in the 1980's.

Mr. Lindgreen is the Master of Siu Lum Gar Kung Fu, 4th degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate (under Grandmaster Robert Gemmell), ranked 5th level Black Sash by the Singapore Martial Arts Instructors Association (under Grandmaster Sim Pooh Ho), and 6th degree Black Belt in Sikaran Arnis (under Master Jose Marie "Jesse" Diestro), Mr Lindgreen received his rank from Grand Master Cipriano Geronimo the founder of Sikaran. He has also been awarded an honorary Black Belt in Taekwon Do (International Taekwon Do Federation).

He has trained in Australia, Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Europe and USA.

Other high level martial arts instructors Mr. Lindgreen has trained with include Dan Inosanto (Phillipino Martial Arts), Benny "the Jet" Urquidez (American Kickboxing), Robert McInnes (Sir Gee Dorr Kung Fu), Shane Bentley (Aikido), Steve Kitson (Nam Wah Pai Kung Fu), Lucy Chen (Wushu), and Lane Louie (Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu).

Prior to 1986, Mr Lindgreen won a total of 18 national and international titles. After a short retirement from competition, he won Champion of Champions at the 1996 CCP International Competition in Australia. In 1997 he won 4 major events at the same competition. Mr. Lindgreen is certified by the Martial Arts Council of New Zealand.

In 1984 the Instructor Of The Year was awarded to him by the New Zealand Government and in 1997 he was nominated as Sports Coach Of The Year.

Mr. Lindgreen holds qualifications in Child Psychology along with Coaching Associates of New Zealand Certificates (1 and 2) and he is certified in Exercise Science, Anatomy and Physiology.

Along with all of the above Mr. Lindgreen was also one of the founding members of The Martial Arts Instructors Association of New Zealand.
